“Too Young to Minister?” – BTPP032

Main Topic: “Too Young to Minister?”

[Author: Tim Lucas]

In this episode…

We don’t need to worry about money. If we take care of God’s business, he will take care of our business.

I was talking to Chris Nicholson at NAYC 2017. We talked about how sometimes people say things like aren’t you young to be pastoring.

Jason Staten said in his message at NAYC there are 60 year old men planting churches, which is fine, but where are the young guys at? It’s time to get up and do something.

As a young minister, we need to heed what Paul told Timothy. Act in a way that won’t allow people to despise your youth. Be an example in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

We need to stop viewing different ministerial positions as better or worse than another. Many times we think of the “ladder” of ministry with a Pastor toward the top. Class with Bro Joki about the importance of a 2nd man ministry.

We need to stop comparing among ourselves. And get away from thinking becoming a Pastor is a “promotion” from being a youth pastor.

Social media has taught us to frame everything in the best light possible even at the expense of truth.

NAYC Sermon by Jason Staten:
3 main things to focus on keeping, as we begin to see the passing of one generation to the next.
1) doctrinal
Salvation
Oneness
Holiness/Separation
2) Demonstration
Paul came not in word only
More than just miracles.
3) Ministry in Action
Not just talking about it
But doing it.

You don’t grow unless you do something uncomfortable.
